450 Class
In the 450 class this weekend we would have yet another first time winner. This season there was a total of 7 different first time winners in the 450 division. Thomas Hahn on board his Team Canidae Motosport Kawasaki would persevere to put together a 1-4 ride to bring home the win. Hahn would take the top step of the podium and be one to be recognized as a huge contender in the up coming season. On top of that we would also see KTM's Justin Brayton win moto number two at Steel City. He would take his KTM out front early on by grabbing the holeshot and never look back, he led every lap of moto two. Falling short in the 2009 season of an overall yet again would be Rockstar Makita Suzuki's Michael Byrne. The Suzuki pilot had a 3-9 on the day and yet again would not be happy with his performance. Jake Moss has really stepped it up this year, coming off with the fill in ride at Monster Kawasaki Moss has had multiple tope three rides. This weekend Moss went 10-2 for a fourth.250 Class
The 250 class would bring great racing as usual. Team Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki's Christophe Pourcel was back to his normal self going 1-1 on the day. In moto number one Pourcel went back and fourth with Rockstar Makita Suzuki's Ryan Dungey, who he was fighting for the 2009 title. At the end of the day Pourcel won the fight, but Ryan Dungey would win the war by taking home the 2009 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship in the 250 class. Team Geico Powersports Honda mounted Blake Wharton had an awesome day of racing, he would go 8-3 to take home third on the day. With KTM riders not knowing what the verdict is on having a ride for next season, we seen Justin Brayton step it up in the 450's and in the 250's we would see Ryan Sipes take a step up the ladder to take a fourth overall on the day with a 6-5. Looking back at my predictions for the weekend, Blake Baggett I had to run in the top five. In moto two we seen Baggett bring home the number four ride. In moto one Baggett had a horrible start and would finish all the way back in sevententh position, this would be good enough for tenth overall. Taylor Futrell did not split into the top ten this weekend as I said he would. Futrell would go 12-15 on the day for a fourtenth overall.
