Florida Gold Cup Series | Gatorback
This weekend was the opening round of the 2009 Florida Gold Cup Series.  The series opener was held at Gatorback Cycle Park.

Schoolboy 14-16

Wifredo Guzman was the man to beat this weekend as he would take a 1-2 on board his Flex Pack Kawasaki.  Following close behind would be Hondas Kyle Peters.  Peters would have some tough luck in moto one which would take him out of overall contention as he ended up in the number three ride.  KP would go 3-1 to take second overall.

Open Pro

It was all about Rockstar Suzuki's Ian Trettel.  The young rookie in the pro class would go 1-1 showing that he is the man to beat in all A and Pro classes throughout the series.  Running behind Trettel was Oscar Diaz who has been off the charts for a while.  This would be a great comeback ride for Diaz going 2-2 on the weekend for second overall.  The third spot would end up in the hands of Florida rider Michael Clarke.  Clarke known to be a front runner in the Monster Energy Sponsors Cup held at Dade City Raceway proved he is a guy to look out for during this years Gold Cup Series.  Clarke went 4-5 for a third overall.

250 B

Wilfredo Guzman would hold on to be Mr Consistant again.  Guzman went 2-2 and took the overall in the 250 B class.  Matthew Creasy was a front runner and had a moto win.  Creasy went a 1-4 to end up in the number two position.  Dustin Jensen went 5-3 for third overall.

Supermini 12-15

Dominating the weekend in the Supermini class would be non other than Yamaha's Cody Chisholm.  Recently Cody has been taking his riding to a new level showing lots of talent in being able to take wins.  Cody Chisholm would take a 1-1 for the overall.  Keith Tucker was in town from North Carolina to run with the Florida boys.  Tucker would hold his own to take a 3-2 at the opening round putting him in second overall.  Jon Murry Barr swapped motos with Tucker to take 2-3 for third overall.

250 A

Ricky Renner showed up to go 1-1 for the overall win.  Dalton Yingling would go 2-2 for second.  Cole Studstill went 3-3 for third overall.

Open A

Rather the same look as in the 250 A class.  Renner would go 4-1 for a overall win.  Cole Boutwell went a strong 3-3 to take second overall.  Dalton Yingling would bring home yet another top three for the weekend with a third.

250 Pro

Ian Trettel put his Rockstar Suzuki on the top step of the podium once again.  Trettel would go 1-1 on the day with Renner in tow taking a 2-2 for second overall.  Derek Hall would have a disapointing weekend after coming off some very strong rides at Loretta Lynns this year.  Hall had multiple holeshots at the ranch and showed he was a front runner if he could grab those starts.  This weekend Hall went 4-4 to bring home third overall.

Open B

The number 801 of Paul Farnsworth killed it going 1-2 bringing home the overall.  Farnsworth showed tons of speed and was able to beat out Robby Renner who would go 4-1 to end up second on the podium.  Mason Hume went 2-3 to tie in points with Renner, but due to a lower score in moto two it would only be good enough for a third overall.
