Moto #1
Coming off the gate in a hurry was Michael Clarke on board his Action Honda backed ride grabbing the holeshot. In the early laps the young rising star would put in some of the fastest laps we seen all night. With dark clouds in the sky and rain approaching everyone
wanted to do the best they possibly could in moto one not knowing if there would even be a second moto. With a beautiful mess above us we all would watched closely as the 99 machine went to work. By lap number five it was safe to say Clarke had a good lead and was looking like he was going to take the moto win. Vince Devane however on his Adventure Cycle Center Kawasaki was keeping pace with the young talented honda rider. Later on he would have his own problems to deal with. Crazy 8 would take pressure from C4 Racing backed Jerry Kopoian and also KWWD Kawasaki rider Tyler Livesay. Devane would end up holding on for a second in moto number one. Last years champion Tyler Livesay ended up having a horrific moto finishing in the fourth spot giving third to Ian Millett. With everyone looking for a win towards the end of the season with only two rounds to go at Dade City Mx it has been awesome racing at each round. The podium looked like this after moto one: Michael Clarke, Vince Devane, Ian Millett.
Moto #2
Moto two would start off backwards from moto one with Ian Millett out front early on. The honda pilot got off the gate and out front right away wasting no time at all. Coming off a third in moto one Millett knew he needed a win to be capable of getting the overall. Following in behind would be Jerry Kopoian on his C4 Racing Suzuki. The last few races Kopoian has really jumped
up on the ladder. Back in the third and fourth positions we would see moto one winner Michael Clarke and last years champ Tyler Livesay. Clarke at this point needed to catch and pass Jerry Kopoian to have the overall. With a veteran rider and past champion going back and forth with Clarke, it was not looking like he was going to be able to pull this off. Ian Millett took his Imoto/Trick Threads Honda way out front to completely check out from the rest of the field. At the halfway mark Millett needed to stay on two wheels and he was going to walk away with the overall. C4 Racing's Jerry Kopoian pushed all the way to the end to take the second spot which was an amazing ride. Livesay and Clarke would battle all the way to the wire with Livesay taking the third spot and Clarke following a close fourth. Alex Spade was a notable rider running up front in all of moto two battling with Clarke and Livesay. Spade would end up in the number five ride. This was enough to hand the overall for round 17 of the Monster Energy Sponsors Cup to Ian Millett. Action Honda backed Michael Clarke would have a disappointing night ending up with second overall. C4 Racing's Jerry Kopoian would hold on to a strong third overall to turn many and many of heads while doing so.
